Contemporary technologies provide such people with a lot of “low-hanging fruit” to speak.
They will “champion” particular devices, apps and operating systems in order to feed their egos and not necessarily to help you affect a positive outcome for your technology-related task at hand.
The ax metaphor is apropos because egotistical people can give you some very destructive advice — please remember it is all about them.
